The Catholic women fellowship (zumumtan mata) of Jos ecclesiastical province visits St. Augustine’s major seminary Jos annually. The women through their representatives from various dioceses across the province come for a solidarity visit to the seminary as their own way of supporting the church in the formation of future priests and for the promotion of the Gospel of Christ. The visit takes place shortly after the seminarians return from their long break which is usually around October. History shows that the women have consistently kept to this traditional for the past 50 years.
The main aim of their visit is to encourage the seminarians on their journey to the Catholic priesthood. As mothers, they give spiritual, academic, moral, and financial support and encouragement to the seminarians. Despite the hard times of our country, the women spare out their time and resources for the growth of the seminary.
In the same vain, the men fellowship (zumuntan maza) of the province have taken upon themselves the obligation of visit to the seminary annually in order to encourage the seminarians as well just as the women do.
The school authority and the seminarians always appreciate both the women and the men for their kind gesture and support to the seminary because these two groups have been a major benefactors to the seminary community.
